It's not abandonment...

I swear I haven't abandoned this place, it's just taken a back seat. You know, with everything else life throws at you, things have to... yeah, yeah - I've just been lazy and let this fall by the wayside.

Not to make you feel bad, but these past 2 days I've actually been cheating on you with a WordPress... I wanted a new blog, and a new blogging platform and WordPress looked pretty cool.

I've basically done what I never wanted to do, but always knew I would do... started blogging about food. Well, I've done 1 food post. But there will be more. You see. Food is my life - like everyone else's. But I like to collect and make up recipes so I figured I would document and share. It's a vegetarian blog, which will also have some health posts and nutritional posts on stuff I like, and recommend - so go and have a look if you want.

http://notyouraverageveg.wordpress.com/

Jeez, what with me Youtubing and doing this, you'd think I was an internet addict.... oh, and also someone who starts new projects all the time. Which is true. And probably not very good.

Change of scenery

I have to comment on the name of the blog changing - you see, my blog was Life of Scum, and I think it might have put people off reading this. It was a play on my first and last name, people call me scumbag as a joke so naturally this was my blog name - thing is, it's hard to explain that without getting into telling the story in every blog post, every time, SO - I'm trying to find a new name for my blog.

In the meantime it's 'Super Sam Land', but I'm pretty sure I'll be changing it again at some point if I'm inspired enough to do so! :P

New look to the blog as well, at the moment I'm loving it!

Stick around - New Year, New Fun on the Super Sam train ride to Random Blogville.

It looks like I'm working... but I'm not

I just like to click click click on my keyboard so it looks like I'm working. In a second I'll stop typing and look out of my window thoughtfully, like I'm pondering something really important, because I should be writing an essay but I just can't get my head in the game.

This is my life. There isn't even anyone around to bust me on not doing this essay, just my Dad who is reading in the living room and not giving a damn about what I'm actually doing - which means I am just trying to fool myself. Jeez, I'm sad!

SO! Hello world! I haven't blogged for a while just because I've been busy and writing blogs is the last thing I should be doing at the moment. I am still doing uni work, which is getting really difficult, but mostly because my brain doesn't seem to be picking things up very well... oh well. I have decided next year I'm doing 2 courses which don't include exams at the end, which leads me to Children's Literature and Advanced Creative Writing. I'm not even joking when I say those courses are SO far up my street I might as well squat in their living rooms for the rest of forever.

Recently I've also been editing my novel - which is now printed and in an A4 folder with post-it's all over it saying which chapters start where, and soon it will be covered in red pen with edits and then I'll be back to the laptop implementing those edits. I am halfway (by which I mean 1%) into finding an agent I want to represent me when I get to the stage of wanting it published. It's not even a dream anymore. It's a reality. I know, it's hard work getting published etc, but I'm pretty set on doing it and I'm going to put in the hours and the work and I think having a positive attitude is a good thing here. I know I won't get the agent/publishing house of my choice, but that's just fine right now. I am going to go out there with a smile on my face and everything will work out.

What else have I been doing? Hmmm... spending too many hours and too much money on my Tumblr. So, I said I had set a new Tumblr up. It was for funsies because I was doing it anyway but it's kind of gotten going quite well. I was just making replica outfits of Zooey Deschanels ones in New Girl (her TV show), because I started watching in ages ago (I couldn't wait for it to come to UK TV, so I watch it another way...), and her style is one a lot of people, including me, love. So I started hunting around for things she was wearing. Then I posted them on my Tumblr (www.likezooey.tumblr.com) and now I have a largish following for me (nearing the 200 mark) and I spent about £30 buying a new layout to make it look all cute for people. It takes a looong time to get the outfits together, because I try to make them affordable and I, in no way, ever saw myself doing what I supposed is a 'fashion blog', but hey ho!

Recently I've noticed someone else started one...She calls hers 'dress like zooey'... I have been rather miffed lately, because it's almost identical to my own. I know this happens, but still...

OK, I've started ranting. Let's wrap this up so I can eat lunch and then attempt to start this essay properly.
So far this year I have read 20 books. I'm onto number 21 (well, almost finished).
I've been to the cinema 3 times in the past 7 days.
And none of my blogs about such things have been updated. So.... joy!

I am sorry I haven't been actively on here, reading your blogs and posting my own - it's just been the last thing on my mind - but I miss all my regular reads and I will catch up soon!

Trimming of the fat

Urgh, it just feels like Feb has almost whizzed by. I apologise in advance if this blog is a little... moody... I'm not in the best of spirits today, which is obviously the BEST time to blog! Yes, it's the secret ingredient. I know.

So, I ignored any kind of blogging duty for the past few weeks because, well, I just didn't have anything to blog about. I still don't, but I figured I'd let you all into the inner workings of my brain. You see, I'm trimming the fat off my blog. Yes, it's time. What with Lent starting tomorrow, I feel like I should start with the blog.

I am giving up following blogs I don't actually read anymore. I have them cluttered in my 'to-read-feed', but there are some blogs which I just... meh, just don't really care about anymore, so I'm just gonna get rid!

Not to worry, if you read this, you're probably one I'll be keeping around, but there are just some I have no interaction with, whether it be reading or even commenting. So bye bye, blogging baggage.

I will blog more often soon, don't worry - just been overloaded with life and work and uni work and reading and watching things.

No more, cakes, no more.

Nah, I'm not stopping baking, but I am stopping the eating of the cakes.

I am, as of tomorrow, back on my slimming world food eating. Back to healthy eating and what not. I slowly introduced healthy food back into my diet, after a 2 week hiatus, last week. I ate mostly healthy things and was then eating bad snacks in the middle. I don't usually snack on bad things so I should be able to snap out of the habit pretty quickly. But yes, next week I am going to put a stop to this post-holiday madness.

I haven't really put on that much weight since the joyous days in December, probably about 5lbs - so if I work on it I could lose that in a week, 2 tops. Then I'm back in business. I started my new work out regime yesterday too and good god, my legs. MY LEGS! I'm kind of looking forward to the 2nd day burn that usually follows a bitch of a workout. I'm already hobbling so we'll see what happens. Eeks.

I'm also restarting my writing project tomorrow. Over 1000 words a day will be achieved just so I can put a lid on the novel, shelf it for a month (which will be Feb) and start to edit in March, most probably. This should give me enough time to look into how you go about sending into to publishers etc. Because that's the part my brain is foggy on. The correct protocol. Though I'm kind of lucky my course will explain all of this, so all I have to do is skip ahead several chapters and find what I'm looking for. This is the year of Sam, and the year Sam (who's me... keep up!) will finally realise her dream of writing.

And to keep you all posted, I'm on book 3 of 2012, so the challenge is going well. Just need to whack my reviews onto the other blog. I'll get that sorted this week, I swear!

The Popularity Forum

It makes me giggle to see which of my posts are 'popular' at the moment.

For the past week or so it's been the one entitled 'Let's go back to the 80's, man!'

And I can only assume people click on it by mistake due to the images I have attached. But still, it's had a butt load of views recently (still, viewer count hasn't gone up so I'm not winning subscribers! Come on people, help my ego out!).

The reason I think people have been heading on over this way is because, like many of the things I like, 80's fashion and makeup is going to make a comeback. What? It's not? People are just googling for 80's makeup because it was Halloween? Damn. And I just bought a sequin jacket with shoulder pads and some denim looking bicycle shorts. Wow... that was a strange mixture of clothing. Sorry!

What was I saying? Oh yes - I'm going to be uploading some special effects make up pictures soon. I have the actual silicone pieces, I'm just waiting on my adhesive to arrive. I had to order it this week - thought I had some in the shed. I don't. Bah!
On a plus note - my new makeup brush set arrived at the best time, so now I can try out my new brushes simulating blood and gore. Yesssss!

Right, I'd best get back. I have an assignment to start and a novel to crack on with. Oh... and I need lunch. Spaghetti hoops, here I come!

Toodles!

Honestly, I'm speechless...

I literally have nothing I want to blog about today. It's finally happened. I've got no words to fill this awkward Internet void of silence... How embarrassing.

So here are so nifty pictures courtesy of www.weheartit.com

On a side note, I love how it is 21:46 and as I write this I can still hear the birds tweeting despite it being dark out. it turns out they like the nice weather too! Of course, Sammi won't be a happy lady if they carry this on all night... oh who am I kidding? I will sleep no matter what! Jeez, I'm tired. I'm sure I'm coming down with something.... meh!

I'll blog tomorrow if I have time, but if not.... it will have to be Sunday, as I have far too many important things to do than blog! Like see friends, and walk around Harrogate ALL day! :D

Toodles.

Setting myself an unattainable goal, yet again!

So! Well... BEDA is going well for me so far. Lots to blog about when I put my mind to it. I'm also being good and saving blog posts a day or two early and then posting them as and when I wish, which is so unlike me. I'm not normally this blogging prepared! I decided I was going to start a new blog. But I decide to start new blogs all the time, and I set them up and then miserably watch them fail, as I don't have the time to tend to other blogs apart from this one. But no. I am going to set this one up for sure. Because I have purpose and practise on my mind. My Boyf got me a couple of books for our anniversary (sorry, I won't talk about it any more after this post! :P), which are to help people write, basically. Fiction, mainly. One of them is a writer coaching book and helps you understand how to write a story, how to get out of the fear of writing, how to create characters, lots of stuff someone needs to know if they fancy giving writing a go. Which I do in the long run. The 2nd book I have is writing exercises, where you read a chapter and write for 5 mins a day. Different themes and challenges that are supposed to help you grow and learn. SO, to conclude, this new blog will be my writing space where I will share my creations to hopefully get feedback, and just get some stuff out there! I am in the thinking that if I make myself blog about it, it will keep me on track. Make me push myself to do it. And this is what I am planning to do. I promise to at least try to set it up!!! Sam

Questions you wish you'd never asked!

Ha! I had to blog about this because it literally made me laugh out loud. I was sat at work and someone walked past. A colleague made a joke, saying to this person 'What do you think you're doing leaving at this time?'. You know when you wish you'd never asked? I think she had one of those moments. This guy just started rambling on about how his mother had diabeties and a cough and its taking it out of her so he's off to pick her up some medicine... on and on and on and on. I was sat chuckling to myself, as things like that amuse me. Whenever anyone asks me 'How are you?', or 'What's up?' - I reply with the standard 'Fine, thanks' and 'nothing, why?' - because I believe no one really wants to know. Sure, sometimes they do, but a normal person can tell when someone wants to listen to you rant. So what is it about some people when they think everyone wants to know their ultimitely dull business? I'll never understand! Over and out! Sam

a little less weight and a little more light

Ahhh!

How much do I love it when it stays light outside for longer?! VERY MUCH is the answer. The fact that I walked home at 4:30, when it is usually pretty dark, in sunshine, is saying something. It makes me happy inside to see it light and see blue sky when its after 4:30... because soon it will be light after 5, and then 6 etc. and then SUMMER is here. I can't wait for summer. So much so that I'm already daydreaming about picnics that will never happen, road trips I'll never take and barbecues which I will definitely inflict on some people!!! I love barbecues. As a vegetarian I feel I have really perfected it. As you can't get ill from Quorn not being cooked properly - all you do is heat it and you're done in about 6 or 7 minutes. I recall last year I had a BBQ with some friends. I had had a hot dog and a burger (with delish relish and salad), before they had even heated up their sausages. HA! Well, what can I say? Vegetarians know what they're doing, even in such a meaty situation. Ooooh, meaty situation. I don't think I will ever use those two words together again. That was just wrong!
Speaking of food and the title of my blog! I went to Slimming World tonight for my first week weigh in and I lost 5lbs. Which is pretty good for the first week, when I went out for dinner on Saturday and baked a damn good Victoria Sponge cake on Sunday. Mmmmm. I'm still reeling from how good it was. My baking is getting damn good!
So on to this next week. Who knows what I'll lose, but I'm optimistic, as I have control over what I'm eating, and know what's good, and what I can eat without putting on weight. It's simple. (famous last words).
I was having a little think earlier about my blog. Always trying to adapt and change it etc. And I was thinking I might merge all my blogging ideas into one. You see I wanted to do a review blog (but not a proper one, just a me, saying what I saw and how good it was/ wasn't), and a baking blog. But I really haven't been bothered to start them up properly so I might just inflict you with pictures and recipes perhaps (If I ever get around to it) and little blurbs on the films I see be they in the cinema or on DVD. I won't make them long. Just little bits of writing, as I hate reading people talk about films for pages and pages just to learn it was mediocre.
So yes.
Hope everyone who passes this way is well.

Sam
ps. don't you just love it when you hit spellcheck and there is nothing to correct?!

December came and went, melting with the snow

Brrr.
The snow! Which is all gone now, but boy was that annoying!
I have taken a break from the blog world pretty much all of this month I think - and I did it on purpose. What with all the coldness and working, and university work and my lack of enthusiasm for anything that involved any kind of thought process.
I think I'm going to re design my blog again. I don't know how or why, it was just a passing thought! I like doing all the colourful words and what not, but it is time consuming, so I don't know whether that is going to stay. I feel bad though because I think the colours are what make people stay and read ( if people do in fact read my blog ). We will see what happens.
So that was Christmas then? Another reason I didn't blog (I was reading them though), was because I kind of felt like there was nothing I could have added to the blogging world. Everyone had pretty much covered it. Snow? Check! Spending too much? Check! Eating too much? Check Check Check! But at the moment I am procrastinating so I figured that the best time to blog was when I was supposed to be writing an assignment. Which I just can't do right now.
I have had a damn cold for 3 weeks. 3 whole weeks of coughing, sniffing, being bunged up and now not being able to hear properly as my ears are blocked! Grrr. When will this end? Probably when I have to go back to work. Life's funny that way.
Ahhh, work. The work which I am going to quit this year. FOR DEFINITE. I say it every year, but I really feel like it's killing me slowly these days. I am hating every second of it, and I love my colleagues, and they were my only reason for staying in all the doom and gloom times, but not any more. I have started to see them as the enemy too, so I feel I HAVE to leave, if not for my sake, but for the sake of my friendships!
I ran out of things to say, so I will say, Happy New Year! I'm staying in this year and playing X box with my boyfriend (which he got me as a present) - who's with me? hehe.

Followers Widget.

OOF!
I have always wondered how to get more people reading my blog. Not that I have anything important to say, but I sometimes try to entertain.. I like to think! So, I have decided to move things around. Tried to make my blog look more inviting, with a nice neutral layout. Not too much going on - a few pictures here and there (Speaking of, look at the hilarious Tiger picture!). I dunno - I like the way it looks, and prefer it to my old layout.
I have also moved my followers widget so its at the top of the page on the right! WHAM ----> right over there! In an attempt to get people to press follow. It's simple really. Follow - see if you like me and then if you don't just un-follow me and send me a message telling me to get a life, and stop wasting my time blogging!!!

I'm a huge follower. I am such a sheep! I can't even begin to describe. Blogger is really the saviour to bored people's lives. I am always bored, because ultimately I must be a boring person! (God, I hope I'm not!) So I always click on the "NEXT BLOG" Button and read some random blogs, which is how I come to follow almost everyone I follow.

Once again, I am procrastinating as I should be writing my assignment on Cleopatra... but hey ho. I wrote 3 pages today so surely I should take a break right? RIGHT!

One more time

Mmm.
We don't stop.
Guess what? Guess what? I am the worst time keeper in the world. And I can't manage time either. So I can't manage it and i can't keep it - I guess the only thing to do is let it go and if it loves me it will come back...? Is that the rule? I am officially letting time go.
Its been over 2 months since I blogged, and to be honest, its because I couldn't be bothered to blog. I lost the love of it. I wanted to write, but I felt what I was writing was, well, dull. And of no importance to anyone but myself. Blogging is a selfish thing isn't it? But on a whole I do try to entertain. I think I lost the sparkle of it all along the way. Sad. I know.
But I'm back. Nothing extremely exciting has happened. Um... lets see, since April I think... Well, I have been working. No change there. Got together with a guy. Who is now officially the boyfriend, but me and my work colleagues have titled him B'f (pronounced buff, as if you didn't know!). Yes, its been fun. It was also my birthday on the 1st June. Which was good, and pleasant and all the things birthdays should be.
Friends, gifts, hugs, kisses and people forgetting, and then remembering and feeling bad about forgetting. As per then.
The only thing that has changed really is my room is a mess (wait.. I said change... that's not a change Sam!). I have a new musical instrument. A ukulele. Woo! And more DVDs. Which is good. I am also suffering from a cold. A bad, bad cold.
I was getting it last week (not swine flu, stop panicking. Stop it, I can see it in your eyes. Don't worry!), but decided that I couldn't have it then because I had a shit mad busy week and an even busier weekend at York races for a Hen Do. (a classy one, mind). So yeah, my body listened to me. it hit me hard yesterday and even worse today. Cut to scene: Sam sitting at her lap top in her PJ's. Obviously not been to work today....
I am hoping that me 'resting' today means tomorrow I will be better, because I have a date with a boy which must involve kissing (it must, no 2 ways about it), and on Saturday I have to be in top form for seeing Transformers at the IMax in Manchester. So. I have given myself today to catch up on rest and all my Internet obligations. Which made me sad.
I love Internet obligations. To tweet or not to tweet. Sadly, more often than not I don't. Because when i use the Internet its just to email the Bf and that's pretty much it (one track minded girl now... erm... not). But I have realised I have to make time. So one day a week I will blog. I will. I must. But when? God knows. Again, whats with time. Where does it go? I always complain about time, but I seriously can't fathom a way to use it to my advantage. Ah well. Never mind, eh?
I will probably go now. Go and sit and take more tablets and hope that this is it for the cold. Ooh, an invite to the cinema.. should I? I would feel bad to go when I couldn't go to work... but... but.... I want to go. Damn it. I will have to ponder this for a while. Anyway. Its good to be back, and I hope at least one person other than me reads this.
I will return in a few days to update on the Transformers movie. Its important you all know what I think of that whore Megan Fox. hehe.

Oh the times they are a changing

Woosh.
What a busy few weeks. I can't really remember where I left this, but once again I failed miserably to blog anything. I have been rushing around like mad of late, and its definitely wearing me down. A few updates are probably needed.
Make up course - its going well, its uber fun but tiring. I don't know what I will do when it finishes, because it will be up to me to pursue it as a career if I want to, which is a scary concept. I don't know, I am still in two minds, because I want to do it, a lot, and I want to get into film or TV, but its hard work and I am bad when it comes to getting into something that's hard work. I want to do it, but I need someone to shove me into it. We got our assignment on Saturday, and its a right old bastard of an assignment. I don't know what the hell I am supposed to do, but I am hoping mine comes out OK. I have taken to being the master photographer for the girls on the most, because I have the most expensive and best camera. Ha ha, like I need an excuse to take pictures. Its been a fun time, getting people to pose in their makeup etc. And emailing them to everyone. The creative monster in me likes to get out every now and then. I will try to put a picture or two up here now they are on my laptop. Here to hoping no one minds their face being plastered on the Internet... Eekers.
I have been a little under the weather over the past...oh, I don't know... 3 weeks. Feeling exhausted and sick all the time, having no appetite and having shakes. Like I'm cold, when I'm not. I finally had to go to the doctors today and get felt.. I mean, checked. Blood tests came next. I have never had my blood taken, so I was left in the waiting room for about 40 mins stewing in fear and hypochondria. Everything that could be wrong with me going through my head. It might be gall stones. Hmmm. I won't google it, because I am sure I will be scared and I KNOW it involves an operation. Ah! No. Not for me, I don't think I will have that. I also have to do a pee pee sample. They have given me the tiniest container. I have no clue how I am going to aim into it. As gross as that sounds.. aiming into something is not my idea of fun. I have yet to find out how i manage on that front.
The latest hot gossip is that I had a first date with a guy yesterday. My sisters boyfriends brother to be exact... which, I know, sounds weird.. but as we discussed yesterday, it happened in Twins (the movie), so I guess its OK. Right? I know.. weird. Oh well. He is really nice though, and sweet and funny, which is good. Its all a bit new right now obviously, but he seems really 'into' me.. which doesn't happen... ever, so I am a bit taken aback by it all. I am useless with emotional stuff, dead inside some say, so its really hard for me to be like that with him.. I don't know, I'm trying to be nice but it doesn't come easily. Plus its hard spending time with someone when you feel sick all the time. Oops. haha.
I have been going to the movies a lot. Knowing - hmmmm... don't miss it, but don't expect it to be the best film. I really want people to see it, so they can be as disappointed in it as I am. that's mean, I know, but who cares? Haha. Marley and Me was OK.... I can't think of much else I have seen now. I just can't keep all these memories in my head, which goes to show that I need to blog more.
Right now I am looking forward to the weekend. I have cinema trips planned, a games night (Risk and Mario Kart) and date number 2, along with Easter - meaning I might eat some chocolate and get to drink my beloved Lucozade drink again. As I gave it up for Lent. And I'm also going shopping. All this on top of finding out my blood work results on Wednesday. Lord, give me strength. I know I shouldn't, but I am preparing for bad news. I have had a good run.. almost 24 years without having to go to hospital. I knew I couldn't be this lucky.

For the record, there was no abandonment going on..

Oi!
I didn't abandon my blog, I just couldn't recall my password and it wasn't worth hurting my brain getting back into the site. I just remembered it though. Just now!
Thats the pain of having the same password for EVERYTHING, but just different variations. That's right hackers out there, crack one password and you have a chance of logging into ALL my facebook/Myspace/Empireonline/Forum/Blog pages. I know, the oodles of information that you could acquire is endless... my name, my likes/dislikes.... Yes, for the cleveruns out there. Only the same passwords for the non confidential things. Good lord, I ain't a pudding you know! *MMmmm pudding*
Anyway, I don't have anything to blog about of interest. I haven't been on here in a few weeks, so totally behind on the people I watch too. Which I am annoyed about, because I don't have the patience to catch up. Which is probably why I never did well at school... off for 3 days and that's my entire educational career outta the window.
I got news today that one of my friends (younger, may I add, the bitch) is getting married... now, usually, someone in my position would be confused about this. I love her to pieces, but, well... this is her 3rd boyfriend in possibly just over a year. No joke. And I don't want to doubt their love, but well, back story is that she was with a guy we worked with for about a year, kind of secretly, as he was engaged to someone else - who was pregnant.... but that didn't work out. Shocker. Even though he left his fiance... and then she got with one of her old 'fooling around' guy friends... which, shock horror, didn't work out. I don't know whether it was because he cheated, but I am pretty sure he did, as he did on all his other girlfriends... once with my friend. If that makes sense? and now she is engaged... to HIS BROTHER. Love it. Soap opera heaven. She can do what she wants. A good friend would be worried about her. A better friend would be worried about herself. And so, selflessly, I am. :)
Everyone I know is basically getting married. What's going on? I must be getting to 'that age' - when everyone I know grows up. OOps, looks like I forgot. I have never been in a serious relationship before. Its never been something I was looking for. And how dare all my friends make me feel guilty and left out because of it. Honestly. What's a girl to do?! *Don't worry, I am not really angry, just ranting*
Anywho, for quick update purposes, I have started my photographic and fashion makeup course. Its fun, well, we have had one 8 hour lesson and it was good. I think its going to be something I enjoy. We get our makeup kits and brushes next week. Makeup artistry, here I come. Maybe one day I will figure out what I will do with my life, eh?
Ramblings of a lunatic.
Sam
