The obligatory procrastination blog

I am writing my first essay of the year. It's only 2000 words and I'm... struggling. To say the least. The subject is children's literature and the question is Is there a clear divide between books for children and books for adults and I have no problem answering this question, and yet, when I'm trying to write it down it makes little to no sense. I've been working on it all day and all of yesterday and it's due in tomorrow and I'm just not getting anywhere.
So what do you do when you can't write an essay? You write a blog post.

At the moment my house is a mess. I live at home with my ma and pa and they are on holiday and I hate that when this happens I realise how much my mum actually does around here. I also hate that it really emphasises my undeniable usage of pretty much every plate, bowl and cup in the house. The kitchen is like a bomb site... I really need to get in there and clean but I just can't bring myself to do it. I've also not been feeling great this week because someone at work gave me a cold - I don't often get colds and I've been kind of OK but my tonsils always take a beating when I'm run down so I'm trying to NOT get tonsillitis... it's going ok but there are some suspect ulcer looking things at the back of my throat which I'm choosing to believe are NOT infected with anything other than regular cold germs. Sorry for that gross image!

So, my essay... I'll get back to it in a second. I'm just trying to figure out how to segway into my next paragraph. I always find that difficult, does anyone else? Just me? Humph.

Kill the Bat Man

Yes. I have seen Batman... twice. What? I like batman films, Ok?

What I'm really doing here is procrastinating because I have to go for a run and I don't wanna. But I will because I told my boyfriend I was going to be a superhero and now I have to train. My tactics will be avoidance- based. I don't want to fight people, so I'm going to build up my running and my upper body strength so if faced with a criminal I can hit them really hard - hopefully slowing them down - and then I'll outrun them.

I'll probably be called something like Bed Bug, because they get you, but you can never find the damn things to get them back! Holllaaaaaa!

IN other news, yes I did like Batman. A lot. I love Uncle Alfred (I always call him that ever since Alecia Silverstone squealed it in her incredibly indecent catholic school uniform), he was the best. He can literally make me cry with just a look! And I loved Bane... there's actually more to that than then film though as I had a dream about Tom Hardy and we were madly in love and when I woke up I've loved him ever since. listen to me. I say this like it's been on going for ever. This was last week. But it's ok, because my boyfriend said if I was going to leave him for anyone it would be ok for it to be Tom Hardy because he's amazing. Yes... if anyone knows Mr. Hardy please send him my way. Look, I'm just saying that we really hit it off in my dream and he even tried to save me from drowning.... it was a strange dream.

I've done a good enough job at putting off the inevitable and this blog has turned into something I didn't expect. Here's a picture of Bane for you to shake in your boots at. I honestly thought he was terrifying in that film. Why is he so big and strong? (I don't know, but my eyes aren't complaining).

If he ever needs another hostage... well... no, Sam, you've taken this too far now. Pervert.

I have my reasons!

Yes, Yes, I've been 'AFK' for a while. (That's 'away from keyboard' - oh, come on, join in with the internet lingo, it's fun!)

But, basically, I've been doing other things. Not life important things, just things that make you not want to blog.

List of things includes:

  • Watching bad american teen drama's. (I'm really good at this).
  • completing the initial spell check of my novel (which took FOREVER, but is finally done - real edits start next week).
  • reading books for uni and personal life. (will have to try to find time to blog about the latest book this week!).
  • Watching films on TV/ DVD (which will be reviewed shortly).
  • Hanging with friends.
  • Playing rock band and singing my heart out (getting up to 100% on 'Hard', I'm moving on to expert soon!).
  • Eating an entire LARGE domino's pizza in one sitting. (I'll be running hard this week to burn it off!).
  • Creating a successful new blog on Tumblr, which has gained over 100 followers in 5 days! (link).
  • Playing 'house' whilst my parents were in Abu Dhabi for the week.
  • Cleaning my boyfriends house. (Trust me, this takes an age, Kim and Aggie would be disgusted!)
  • Entertaining my boyfriends 'aunt' for the weekend. (She's from America, and is lovely!).
  • General procrastination practice.

So you see, I've been 'living' - just not documenting such living. But I've missed this place and will be back with fun things at some point. Which I always say, but never do.

I'm like the 'tomorrow' of the blogging world. Always on the horizon, but never arriving. (get it? Because tomorrow, is ALWAYS tomorrow, and never today! God, I'm smart!).

I should be reading...

But I'm blogging instead. I love procrastination blogging the best! hehe.

I am supposed to be reading Wuthering Heights. Is is just me, or is it unfathomable? Maybe I'm just not smart enough to 'get' it, but it's unintelligable writing. Classic my ass. If the words made sense I'm sure the story would do better. I can tell there is something of interest in the lines, but the style is just so in direct dissent to what I like to read I'm finding it all a bit of a challenge. I think I'm about 40% done with it... and I really need to finish it by tomorrow... hmmm. We will see how that goes!

I went to the cinema this weekend and watched many a film. These will be blogged about over here (well, how else do I big up my other blog?). 3 films at the cinema and one at my friends house. The 3 at the cinema were Carnage, Young Adult and Man on a Ledge. The one on TV was Timer. I will rate all of these for my own enjoyment! You can't stop me. I also find I am giving really good ratings to things. I am just too nice... but I really enjoy films, so what can I say? I'll have to watch a crap one just so I can show some judgement (where's my DVD copy of Gigli?)

I also ordered some things from Ama... wait, can I say the name of shops on here? Do I get freedom of speech or will I be slapped for advertising? Oh God, the rules. The rules. Well.. I shopped online somewhere that rhymes with Bamazon (thank you Creative Writing course, for helping me with my rhymes). It's a Moleskin Passions book where you can log books you read, write about them, rate them. A book diary if you will. So I have started to fill it in with books I'm reading this year to correlate with my 2012 GoodReads challenge.
Here is one of the pages:

You probably can't make out my scrawl, but it's a pretty cool book!

Not much else has been going on so I really should get back to reading this Wuthering business!

Heaaathcliffff, it's Caaathhhyyy!

Easter, Birthdays and the importance of discovery...

Boy!

What a weekend, eh? The weather alone has made this one amazing, however I have to say, I did have other distractions that kept me bobbing along quite happily over the past few days.

I feel it is important to say that I write to you in the middle of trying to write my 2nd to last assignment for Uni. It's a self assessment assignment and I'm not really in the mood! But alas, I figured I should take a break and blog whilst I remember, and I can honestly say this Blog every day in April has gone a little awry, I can also honestly say that writing almost every day has been a pleasure! :P

I digress, anywho. On Friday I went to a local park with one of my friends. Just for a wander and a walk. Now, I have been in this park before and drive past it a hell of a lot, but I had one of those 'What the hell?' moments, when we walked through the greens and was greeted by a HUGE expansion of grass, water, basket ball and tennis courts and all sorts of amazing-ness. I seriously couldn't believe all of this park life was on my doorstep, so to speak... OK, about 15 minutes away from it, and I never knew. I felt like I had discovered something great. My friend, on the other hand, couldn't quite grasp how I had never been there before. And I really don't know why I haven't. It just goes to show, sometimes you just don't know what good things lie on your doorstep until the sun comes out and you decide to go for an adventure!

In other news, I was supposed to go to Harrogate on Saturday with my boyfriend, but the weather said it would be thundery at some point so we gave it a miss and went to Manchester instead. I love Manchester. It's one of the best cities in the world. The buildings, the shops, the food! I would never get bored of going to town and finding new and interesting places to go. Not that I do that though. We have a bad habit of only ever hitting up the same shops. Starbucks, Magma, HMV (both on Market Street and in the Arndale centre), Fopp, Arndale food hall and Waterstones. And then either food or home... but it's the perfect day (for us) and so it was great on Saturday as the weather was beautiful. We then hit up a Nepalese restaurant for dinner, which is SO SO good and SO SO cheap!! WIN!

I guess everyone knows it was Easter this weekend but it was also my boyfriends birthday and we celebrated by eating a HUGE Easter meal and eating loads of chocolate. Diet be damned this weekend! No one should not eat chocolate on Easter. No one.

And that concludes my

holiday from my assignment. I must get back to it... really... I should...

In the midst of procrastination

Bah!

I was supposed to be writing my assignment today. And that's what I did. Kind of. I still have to finish it up but this was one of the toughest ones yet. I was writing, or AM writing, about the tradition of the string quartet for a particular composer. It's tough, but I chose it because... well... with things like the arts you can throw in technical words and build sentences around them and appear smarter than you are. Not that I need to sound smarter, but it helps, doesn't it?! :) hehe.

I still have to finish it off, I basically spent 5 hours trying to write a crappy draft which makes no sense and has no flow to it. So I will be spending Wednesday trying desperately to make it better, and then Thursday will be editing day. Yeay!

Anyway, I was going to write about procrastination. Which is one of my favorite past times. It's true. I am so good at it. I was starting this entry and then remembered I had to look up upcoming films for me and my friend to see. So I started doing that. And then after I had done that I realised I was going to write this. It's not even something I do intentionally, it's just my natural state is to procrastinate. Ooh, poetic.

So my procrastination project today was writing. Sometimes its TV, sometimes music, and sometimes writing. My assignment is supposed to be 1200 words. Not that long, but its hard to hit your points and keep them clear with restrictions like that. In the time it took me to write my intro (which turned into my conclusion and was then moved to the bottom of the page), I managed to throw out around 1270 words of a random story I started writing. Which I think could actually go quite well if I continue it. I don't know what it's about, but I was really getting into writing it. So my procrastination might turn into a short story. Which I'm quite happy about, so IN YOUR FACE procrastination God's. Your intervening failed.

Listening to:
Brooke Waggoner - really helpful to write to because her songs are so pretty and ethereal and calming.

Film I watched this weekend:
From Dusk til Dawn. Something I missed out on because I was too young when it came out (I was 11... I like to point out to my boyfriend that he was 17 at the time to make him feel old!). I finally saw it on TV and it was hilariously good!

Picture of the day:
I just found this quite sweet and romantic.
I have just realised these people could be having sex... I didn't see it that way, but if that's what you like... ;)
