The much awaited halloween post!

Hello folks!
I hope this blog finds you in good spirits. I have many a thing to mention tonight (on this lovely halloween eve... currently 2:08am, and I'm just sat watching Scrubs... spooky!), which I'll probably forget as I go on, so bare with me!

Firstly, well done to fellow blogger Gee - see his blog here - he won best writer of blogs in the Welsh Blogging awards, or something equally as amazing (It's late and opening a new window to find the exact title seems like hard work), and I must say it's well deserved. His blog is pretty darn cool, maaan!

In other news I've already forgotten what I was going to say. Silly me.. let's see... I started a new website with my fella - it's a mixed media kind of thing, where we're just posting funny little articles, pictures we find on the web, and video's from youtube etc. It's a work in progress, but have a look, and suggest things you think would be cool!

It can be found here.

As most of you know I have signed up for NaNoWriMo this year (user name Samsiren), which starts... oh, crap. Today! So from here on out I'm on a mission to write a 50,000 word novel. Woohoo. On the plus side it kind of ties in nicely with my creative writing course, as I'm working on building believable characters, so good timing!

I also joined Good Reads (user name Sam C), and am building my library and sorting out a reading list. I like having books recommended to me and this site seems to be the best place for it! yeay! More books! haha.

Finally - it's Halloween. I love Halloween, it's no secret, but this year I opted to not have a party, as it usually costs about £200 and I figured it would be nice to save my money. So instead I've been watching french horror films - I've watched Martyrs, switchblade romance, Inside and a couple of non french ones - being trick r treat and gingersnaps.

I can honestly say the worst out of the bunch was Inside. It was horrible. I couldn't watch most of it - and I love horror and gore. It was just awful, but brilliant!
As for martyrs - it was great. My boyfriend thought it was horrowing, but I just thought it was a great story, and such a rollercoaster. The story chopped and changed about 3 times and you never knew how it was going to end. In the end it was awful but great!

Switchblade was a film of suspense and had a huge twist at the end that I just didn't see coming, did anyone else, if you've seen it?

Trick r Treat was a fun horror movie - it was a classic and really cool. It wasn't scary really but it was entertaining, and creepy. And gingersnaps is just an amazing werewolf movie - the actresses who played the lead characters were great too and it was a canadian film, which you just don't tend to see that much.

So, hope everyone's halloweens were great! Let me know what you got up to!

Pottermore AGAIN! And other mindless points.

Hi all!

Yesterday was my first day back at work and it made me realise... how much I hate it there. But, you know, I've pretty much been saying that for the past 5 years. So.... yeah! I'll just have to stick with it for now, and stop thinking I'll ever find a job which will fulfil me... right now. Because, you know. I'm working on getting into my dream career of becoming a writer, so I shouldn't really sweat it, right? Please say yes!

I had a really good 2 weeks off, and have now booked another 2 weeks off in the first 2 weeks of November, because I basically forgot to take any holidays this year and was left with 5 weeks to take before the end of the year! I now have 3 weeks left, so I will be using them for Christmas (got the whole festive period off) and maybe some days in between it all! Woop woop! :P

I finally got my pottermore email - which to those NOT in the know, is the new official Harry Potter website, where you can basically go through all the different scenes in the book on the Internet and find out little tidbits on characters etc. and things that never made it into the story but JK Rowling wrote anyway - for the fans it's a pretty nice perk, and they let 1 million people have early access for Beta testing before the official open date of the 1st of October. In my case, there wasn't any point in doing it because I only just got in and it's October on Saturday (more on that in a second) so, bah! it was fun trying to get in early never the less, so who cares? Only problem is I have hit one of the errors on the site and now I'm stuck in Diagon alley with no money so I can't buy the things I need to move onto the next stages! Humph!

So, yes, it's October the 1st on Saturday. Now, I'm sure you ALL know that I love October. I love it so much it's untrue. It's just MY season. And Halloween! What's not to love? But on Saturday I'm officially starting my 2nd year of Open Uni, and will be studying 'Reading and Studying Literature' and 'Creative Writing'. I'm excited and scared that I may have taken on too much, but not to be outdone by myself I'm pushing myself even further.

My boyfriend and I have set up a website... I can't tell you what it's about at the moment, it's a working progress and just meant to be fun. So we are working on that this month and going 'live' on Halloween... and no, it's not a Halloween themed site, even though that is what I should be doing! I was also going to try to partake in NaNoWriMo this year. Which is National Novel Writing Month, and it takes place over the month of November. I figured it might slot in with my creative writing course... we will see. I have already thought of what I'm going to be writing about so I just need to keep that in my head for the next month and come November I have 1 month to write 50,000 words! Not too much, right?

Whoever said I start too many tasks and never finished them will soon be proven wrong (but more than likely right!).

Anyway, I'll be off, this was just a wordy blog before more pictures of ooey gooey cakes. Which will follow later this week/ weekend!

Take care!

Writing up a storm

Boo!
Hi guys! Well, its November. I love how when the month changes everyone feels they have to comment on it. You should see the amount of people on Twitter who have exclaimed their disbelief that the month has changed... again! But, you know, it is alarming, the rate the year is going! November! What next? December? Egad!
Halloween was a big part of my weekend - as per usual! I threw a Halloween party with my boyfriend and it went pretty damn good. A little quieter than last year, as a couple of my friends couldn't make it, and others had to leave early so I had no friends there (well, none I had invited) by about 11! But other than that it was a great night. My and my boyfriend did that thing most couples do, but shouldn't - which is is coordinate our outfits! We went as Jedward (picture will follow, my boyfriend has the best one on his camera!). Overall it went very well. Everyone dressed up - best costume of the night was a friend who dressed as Wikus from District 9... it was a genius outfit!
On Sunday I went to see The Social Network (click HERE for my thoughts on it), which was brill! I really loved it!
And Monday and today I have been click-click-clicking away, working on my assignment for university. It was more difficult than I originally thought, but only because of the l e n g t h. If I had been allowed a word limit of say, 2000 words, I would have been set, but I had to stick to 1000 - with only 500 words per part (there were 2 parts... wow, I'm good at maths). It was tough but I did it. I'm proud of myself but the knowledge that it was only the 1st assignment is daunting... oh well! I actually enjoy writing, its just hard to stick to length limits!
I have nothing more to say... wow. Its been a long day!
Take it easy!

Halloween costume ideas 2010!

BOO!
It's getting scarily close to Halloween, and I don't know about you but I'm panicking slightly. This is only because I have planned a halloween party for some friends, and I haven't done a very good job of preparing! But enough of that! I know what I'm being for halloween - its top secret at the moment - but I thought I would share with you, gentle viewer, the best costumes I have seen so far;
Avatar - just because, well, its hilarious. And if you CAN pull it off, you should!!! :)
King Kong - I always look at this one, every year, and think 'this is the year', but then I go for something else. One year I will get this, and it will be awesome!!!
Glo-woman - just... what??
wolf-man - A classic - I love this!
Joker - I wonder how many of these we'll see this year. A fine costume indeed, though!
Jaws - Hilarious!!
That's all of the ones I have seen recently which I thought were worth mentioning!
Enjoy!

Ah... to blog.

Errr.
(Sorry if this is now rushed, I just wrote a whole blog and it deleted itself.... grrr)
I haven't been up to much since my last blog... which was a million years ago it seems! Life has its little twists and turns which keep you preoccupied - and there have been many highs and many many lows this year so far - but we just have to pick ourselves up and carry on - which is something I'm particularly good at, so I'm gonna continue this blog like I never left!
I am off on my jolly hols on Wednesday, so I took it upon myself to book tomorrow off work to do some clothes shopping and pack and stress about all the things I'm sure I will forget to pack etc. I guess the most important part is having a valid passport. Which I do.. so I'm OK - right?! hehe.
This is the first holiday with my man-child - which should be interesting! We are off to Florence - I have been before and love it, but the reasoning for my lovely boyfriend wanting to go was nothing short of romantic. Hannibal was set there. That's right - my boyfriend wants to go on holiday to a place a sicko murderer, albeit fictitious, went. He's a keeper, is he not? haha.
When I get back from the sun and rain (which I think is forcast - great!), I have to seriously look into getting a new laptop - this one hasn't worked right since someone (stop staring at me..), accidentally deleted a serious piece of coding from the main computer brain, thus breaking the entire thing, and having to then patch up the coding by copying it from my dads computer and pasting it onto my laptops brain cells in hopes that it would start working again. which it did. Just not properly. So I will be looking for one which is shiny, new and has the ability to save more than 2GB worth of information on it! I mean, 2 GB? How 2008! Also, I will be needing Microsoft office as I will be needing to write essays and stuff because.... drum roll... I am starting an Open University course in October. I can't remember if i mentioned it in the last blog, but I'm doing History of the Arts, which is the 1st part of a degree. I will choose my actual degree course in the 2nd year me thinks, as I can mix and match for now. Fun times though!
I know what you're thinking. Another course? Well.. yeah! Of course! excuse the pun! You'd think with all these courses I do I would be a little smart... I'm not. I'm as dumb as I look! ZING! oh... I zinged myself. ouch!
Anyway, enough about me! Here are some sites I have been on of late:
One - is a site run by the talented actooor Joseph Gordon Levitt, and its basically a collaboration site, where writers, directors, musicians and artists can go and pool ideas to make a finished project. Its a great idea. I haven't contributed yet, as everyone who is on there is pretty amazing at everything. I like to watch what gets created though... maybe one day I'll get involved! hehe.

Two - its so good, and so bad at the same time! Sadly, I, like many other women in the world (and some men, I guess) - will miss The Hills now its finished. But the almighty Lo Boswell has her own website. Its a bit of tat, but its fun to go on when you're bored and looking for something to waste your time on!

Three - isn't new, its not big, and its not clever. But I'm back into tweeting in a big way! Follow me for stupidness and boring comments such as : Its night time! (which I haven't ever used, but just might tonight!).

In other news - I'm already planning my Halloween party and I'm currently trying to decide what my new layout on this blog will be - which is why its so plain at the moment.

Listen up - I'm back (for now), and in a typing mood.

Thanks for stopping by!

Its so hard to be consiously creative

Grrrr.
Its been a while again. But not as long as before so its OK in my mind. HA!
Thinking of something in a creative manner has never been my strong suit. I mean. I would class myself as the artistic type, but its more of an accidental kind of creativity. I am so crap at planning something of value. Which is why I am having such a hard time trying to pick a business name for me and my sisters makeup business. Its driving me insane actually, because I can never stop trying to come up with a name. Even when I think I'm not doing it, I am... which is a pain in the backside, if you ask me. Which you didn't. But there it is anyway!
You see, the business mobile phone has been purchased. And the business cards are almost finished, design wise. So all we need is a business name... something make-up-y and beauty-like... but its so hard to come up with something that's not cheesy or just plain crapola!!! Once we have this name, we can print cards. Advertise. Set up a website. Set up the email address. So its a damn nightmare. Because so much stock is going to be put into this name. I need some help. Please. Someone just start suggesting something and maybe if we pool our inner thought demons, we can come up with something half decent!
In the mean time. When I'm not trying to think of 'the name', I haven't been up to much. Well. I went to London for a quick trip with some girly pals of mine. Which was nice, but exhausting, so it was lucky I took the following week off work. Which again, was exhausting. But still. SO worth it, because I got to chill out. But I have to admit, I have been a bit down the past few weeks, because my friends (even though they haven't said anything to me properly), think I am ditching them to spend time with my boyfriend. Which I'm not. Because I always try to see them when I can, its just when they do want to arrange something, I'm usually already pre-booked with something or someone else. Which isn't my fault, but I know they kind of see it as me consciously not spending time with them. Its a pain. Because that's what happened with one of my friends a few years back, and now we don't see her. And a passing comment was made the other day that there might be 'a similar situation' going on. Which I didn't even know about until it was said, and as soon as it was said, my mood hit an all time low. Its just a bit crap. Because I don't think people realise how hard it sometimes is to fit another person into your life and try to re-jig everything else to fit around that. I'm still trying to find the balance, and I'm a little upset that that hasn't been acknowledged. But Hey Ho. That's life.
I don't really like Facebook at the moment. I don't really like Twitter either. But with FB, its the constant updates of what people are doing on the Internet. Not what they are doing in general. Its more of an annoyance at the fact that everyday I get little updates saying someone has completed a quiz, and these are their results. OR someone has completed another level of this game... and THESE are their results. I don't care. Because it seems these people have way too much time on their hands, playing stupid games, and I'm both annoyed and grouchy... Its the classic feeling of feeling like you're the only person on the damn thing that only has time to do a quick wall post to someone for a catch up, and then naff off to do something real. In the real world. Like bake a cake. Or darn a sock. ha.
Its Autumn again and I love it. Although it makes me sad that this time last year I was in Paris. But... I love British autumn. I need to go taking photos before its all over. Its almost Halloween too, and I have been planning a kick ass party, with strobe lights, and fake graves, and... that's pretty much it, but it will be good. Now all I have to do is actually bring it all together somehow and make it happen. But, like they all say. It'll be alright on the night. I hope.
I'll keep you posted. You give me business name ideas!
Go.
