It looks like I'm working... but I'm not

I just like to click click click on my keyboard so it looks like I'm working. In a second I'll stop typing and look out of my window thoughtfully, like I'm pondering something really important, because I should be writing an essay but I just can't get my head in the game.

This is my life. There isn't even anyone around to bust me on not doing this essay, just my Dad who is reading in the living room and not giving a damn about what I'm actually doing - which means I am just trying to fool myself. Jeez, I'm sad!

SO! Hello world! I haven't blogged for a while just because I've been busy and writing blogs is the last thing I should be doing at the moment. I am still doing uni work, which is getting really difficult, but mostly because my brain doesn't seem to be picking things up very well... oh well. I have decided next year I'm doing 2 courses which don't include exams at the end, which leads me to Children's Literature and Advanced Creative Writing. I'm not even joking when I say those courses are SO far up my street I might as well squat in their living rooms for the rest of forever.

Recently I've also been editing my novel - which is now printed and in an A4 folder with post-it's all over it saying which chapters start where, and soon it will be covered in red pen with edits and then I'll be back to the laptop implementing those edits. I am halfway (by which I mean 1%) into finding an agent I want to represent me when I get to the stage of wanting it published. It's not even a dream anymore. It's a reality. I know, it's hard work getting published etc, but I'm pretty set on doing it and I'm going to put in the hours and the work and I think having a positive attitude is a good thing here. I know I won't get the agent/publishing house of my choice, but that's just fine right now. I am going to go out there with a smile on my face and everything will work out.

What else have I been doing? Hmmm... spending too many hours and too much money on my Tumblr. So, I said I had set a new Tumblr up. It was for funsies because I was doing it anyway but it's kind of gotten going quite well. I was just making replica outfits of Zooey Deschanels ones in New Girl (her TV show), because I started watching in ages ago (I couldn't wait for it to come to UK TV, so I watch it another way...), and her style is one a lot of people, including me, love. So I started hunting around for things she was wearing. Then I posted them on my Tumblr (www.likezooey.tumblr.com) and now I have a largish following for me (nearing the 200 mark) and I spent about £30 buying a new layout to make it look all cute for people. It takes a looong time to get the outfits together, because I try to make them affordable and I, in no way, ever saw myself doing what I supposed is a 'fashion blog', but hey ho!

Recently I've noticed someone else started one...She calls hers 'dress like zooey'... I have been rather miffed lately, because it's almost identical to my own. I know this happens, but still...

OK, I've started ranting. Let's wrap this up so I can eat lunch and then attempt to start this essay properly.
So far this year I have read 20 books. I'm onto number 21 (well, almost finished).
I've been to the cinema 3 times in the past 7 days.
And none of my blogs about such things have been updated. So.... joy!

I am sorry I haven't been actively on here, reading your blogs and posting my own - it's just been the last thing on my mind - but I miss all my regular reads and I will catch up soon!

I have my reasons!

Yes, Yes, I've been 'AFK' for a while. (That's 'away from keyboard' - oh, come on, join in with the internet lingo, it's fun!)

But, basically, I've been doing other things. Not life important things, just things that make you not want to blog.

List of things includes:

  • Watching bad american teen drama's. (I'm really good at this).
  • completing the initial spell check of my novel (which took FOREVER, but is finally done - real edits start next week).
  • reading books for uni and personal life. (will have to try to find time to blog about the latest book this week!).
  • Watching films on TV/ DVD (which will be reviewed shortly).
  • Hanging with friends.
  • Playing rock band and singing my heart out (getting up to 100% on 'Hard', I'm moving on to expert soon!).
  • Eating an entire LARGE domino's pizza in one sitting. (I'll be running hard this week to burn it off!).
  • Creating a successful new blog on Tumblr, which has gained over 100 followers in 5 days! (link).
  • Playing 'house' whilst my parents were in Abu Dhabi for the week.
  • Cleaning my boyfriends house. (Trust me, this takes an age, Kim and Aggie would be disgusted!)
  • Entertaining my boyfriends 'aunt' for the weekend. (She's from America, and is lovely!).
  • General procrastination practice.

So you see, I've been 'living' - just not documenting such living. But I've missed this place and will be back with fun things at some point. Which I always say, but never do.

I'm like the 'tomorrow' of the blogging world. Always on the horizon, but never arriving. (get it? Because tomorrow, is ALWAYS tomorrow, and never today! God, I'm smart!).

Secret agent Sam

OK, now, when you listen to this song you have to replace EVERY 'man' with 'Sam'. You now have my theme tune in your head!

Basically, I'm the WORST person you want looking into your life. You see, I have this absolutely awful problem, it's an addiction, really - and I hate that the internet makes it so easy to do. At least if the internet didn't exist I could possible make this addiction into a really badly paid job.

What is this I'm talking about? Spying. Yes. I said it. I, Sam won't-say-my-last-name (but if you were like me you'd have already found it), am a spying fiend. (Also, don't worry, I don't spy on people I don't know... only people I DO know in the realz worldz).

I can't help myself. If a friend or slight acquaintance has a website, twitter account or the 'should be secret' Tumblr page, I'm going to find it. I don't want to, but I can't help myself.

Recently I learnt 3 of my friends have Tumblr's. I do too, but I like to keep mine private, as it's kind of like a blogging diary, where I don't WANT people I know to read it. I don't want people I know to read this (bar a few), and I get the internet is a nice place to publicly share in an anonymous way. BUT MY BRAIN DOES NOT COMPUTE. I found their Tumblrs within seconds. I couldn't help it, the internet makes it SO easy to find things. SO easy... and then I learn that someone I know, who I want to keep an eye on (but we're not friends) has a twitter account. Now, I can't follow her, as I don't want her to know I spy on her... soooo... I now just type in the twitter address for her page and I check up on what she's doing (it's a VERY long story, but basically it's both entertaining and necessary to watch her movements).

I would hate to think of anyone I know doing this to me but I really can't stop myself, I love snooping. I'm not a gossiping person outside of the internet. Yeah, with really close friends I'll have a bitch and moan, but I don't gossip at work and I try not to get involved if others are (kind of), and I don't gossip about any of my friends if I can help it, but on the internet I'm a magnet for information.

I wish they did internet rehab - they probably do it in China... I'll just sit on my hands and try not to do it as much, ok? Good!

Hope I didn't make you all paranoid!

Quite cold really!

Brrr.
Even though it was a brilliantly sunny day today it was still quite cold. I'm waiting for the warmth, Mother Nature... where is it?
So - hello followers of sorts! I know, I know, it's been a while since I last did this. But every time I went to click 'New Blog' (or whatever the button says), I had the fear. The fear is a terrible thing, but also a good thing because I suppose it should mean I did other 'life' stuff instead of sitting here blogging.
I didn't.
To put it bluntly, I have been cheating on you, Oh blog of sorts. I have been 'blogging' on Tumblr for the past month or so. Which shouldn't be as addictive as it is. Basically it's a cheats guide to blogging, but also a great lazy way to stay in a blogging community. As all people pretty much do is blog pictures and stuff, and if you find the right people to follow you can get some pretty nice photos and quotes and such that make you feel all warm inside.
My blog is something like www.tumblr.com/scumbagsam - I think... I have just been posting pictures and such. It's a great link up to the site www.weheartit.com which is where most of the pictures come from and go to - like a vicious circle - but it's pretty cool if you like finding pictures of certain things etc. So that's basically where I've been hiding.
As of late in the REAL world - not much going on. Work has been mega hectic and stress inducing - it's tipping me over the edge and I will soon be insane from the pressure of it all. But hey ho! Uni work has been pretty good - although I have been having problems with Word on my laptop which meant I had to blitz an assignment in 2 1/2 days, which took some speedy typing and *wishful* thinking. I hope I pulled it off. Eeks!
I have been dieting still - slimming world - and I missed last weeks weigh in as I went to see Ray Lamontagne play a gig at the Bridgewater in Manchester (he was insanely good as per) but I am pretty sure I have lost a stone so far. So that is good news! :)
I have been watching many a movie - I saw the alien comedy Paul today which I liked despite thinking I wouldn't. Seth Rogan's voice is pretty much the sexiest voice in the world to me right now... aaaaand - that's basically it I think...
Not much goes on in the world of Sam. I have a few pictures of Manchester I might post soon, along with a description of a cool Milkshake bar I have found. I might also post a recipe or two for some good meals that are healthy if anyone is interested... if not I might start a new food blog. But I always say this and never do - so we shall see what happens and how much time I have to do these things!
Adios!
Sam
